Care for Les Bijoux
Your jewelery is precious and should be treated with care and love. With some basic guidelines your jewelery will continue looking faboo!
~ Avoid chemicals, body lotion, perfume and hair spray directly on your jewelery as this may cause discoloration. Also avoid swimming, showering and sports while wearing your jewelery.
~ Always store your jewelery safely, to avoid scratching.
~ Check your jewelery regularly for any wear and tear to avoid further damage.
Gold filled/gold plated/vermeil: Please rinse in warm water and mild soap, then pat dry with tissue or leave to dry on a towel.
Sterling Silver: Silver can tarnish.. to treat use a non abrasive silver polish or a soft cloth.
Finishes:
Gold plating: Gold plated pieces have less quality then gold filled jewelery. Gold plated jewelery has been coated with a thin layer of gold on top of a base metal. Gold plating is a surface finish so it can be susceptible to wear but if looked after correctly patina should only occur over a long period of time.
Gold filled: Gold filled is the next best to solid gold (and is the only gold metal used in Peachy B designs, unless otherwise noted). Gold filled jewelery is manufactured by laminating a sheet of gold over a base metal and should be at least 5% of the total weight of the piece. The layer of gold is extremely hard wearing and should last you for many years.
Vermeil: Vermeil is a 14karat gold layer over sterling silver. It is less durable than gold filled jewelery but more durable than gold plated jewelery.
Sterling Silver: Metalcomposed of 92.5% pure silver, and 7.5% alloy, usually copper.
